Finding your way around your workspace

The dashboard is where you see what your AI did and approve what needs you. Here is what each item in the left-hand menu is for.

Your workspace is your organization's compliance space in Kanonik. The dashboard is not where you do the work: your own AI does that, in the client you already use, connected to Kanonik. The dashboard is where you see what your AI did and decide on what needs you. You rarely type a compliance detail into a form here.

The menu runs down the left of every screen (along the bottom on a phone). It has four entries.

Workspace

Your record and your next step, in tabs:

  • Start. What to do next. Your first visit shows how to connect your AI and the prompt that starts your security record. See Start: your first record.
  • To decide. The same list as the To decide entry in the menu, shown here as a tab.
  • All records. Every record on your workspace and how they relate: assets and vendors carry risks, controls treat those risks and implement your policies, and everything maps to the requirements of your frameworks. You can also pick a past date to see your record as it stood then; see Your program as it stood on any date.
  • Questionnaires. The security questionnaires your AI is answering, and where each answer came from.
  • Standing. Where you stand: your record read against one framework at a time. For each requirement it shows whether it is covered, open, not applicable or not assessed yet, and the next steps to close what is open. See Where you stand.

Start a job, above the menu, lists jobs you can hand to your AI, such as answering a security questionnaire, finding your risks or handing a pack to an auditor. Pick one and copy the prompt Kanonik writes from what your workspace already knows, then paste it into your AI. Nothing there runs on its own. See Copy a prompt to your AI.

To decide

Your approval queue, with a count of the items waiting on you. Each request holds the items your AI submitted together; you open each item and approve it, send it back or reject it. See To decide and Deciding on an approval request, item by item.

Audit log

Decisions on your workspace, newest first, with what was approved, sent back or rejected, by whom and when. Entries are never edited or deleted, and you can check the chain from the page. See Reading your audit log.

Settings

Your workspace configuration, in sections: Organisation, People, How approvals work, Frameworks, Slack, Subscription and Connect your AI. Settings configures the workspace itself. Changes to your controls, policies and risks go through your AI and an approval, never through a form here. See Settings.

Help

Help sits at the foot of the menu (in the top bar on a phone) and on the sign-up, sign-in and emailed-link pages. It opens the guide for the page you are on, the support address and Report a problem.

Report a problem opens a short form. Choose whether it is a bug or feedback, describe it, and attach up to three files if they help. A bug also asks how severe it is. We add the page you are on, the time and a reference to the report. You get a reference number back.

Your account

The account button at the bottom of the menu shows who you are signed in as, your role and your workspaces. It also opens Settings, Connect your AI, Trust and security, Help and Sign out.

If you work across more than one workspace

Consultants and anyone managing more than one organization can belong to several workspaces. The account menu names the workspace you are in, lists the others and lets you switch, so you can check which organization a change will land in before you approve it.

What people with the Auditor role see

An Auditor reads the record and the Audit log. To decide and Standing are not in their menu. See Roles and inviting your team.

The one habit that matters

You do not edit compliance records in the dashboard. To change something, ask your AI: it proposes the change, the safety check runs, and you decide under To decide. The dashboard is your view of what happened and your gate on what happens next.
